Doug MacDonald Elected President of Davis Education Alliance

Macdonald cites the recent report of the Utah Foundation which concluded that “Utah’s tax burden is at its lowest level in 20 years.” The report further explained that the “net effect” of that change is “all of the burden of lowering taxes has come out of public education budgets. In fact, education funding effort has fallen more than the tax burden.”

“The result of this devastating financial picture,” explained the new president, “is increased class size, reduced pupil support, and low teaching morale. Our children deserve better, and the slight improvement seen this year must be accelerated.”

The Davis Alliance for Public Education is a local organization devoted to the mission of supporting and improving public education in Davis County and Utah. The group meets monthly and any interested person who shares this concern is invited to attend. The next meeting is scheduled for June 11, 6 p.m., at the Centerville Public Library.
